Noritz believes it is our duty to pass on a "A Clean Earth for Future Generations". Noritz is implementing its own criteria for "Energy Saving", "Resource Saving", and "Air Pollution Prevention",which are more stringent than governmental standards. New standards for Eco-friendly products are being introduced in respect to "Energy", "Resources", and "Environmentally Stressful Substances".The aim is to minimize the environmental load during the life cycle of a product.
Noritz was placed 23rd in the manufacturing sector of the 9th Nikkei Environmental Management Ranking announced by Nikkei Business Daily on December 5, 2005 (up from 114th place in 2004).
Noritz won "the Japanese Minister for the Environment Award 2005" for "Eco Will", a gas-engine co-generation system used in Japan.
Training of International Auditors for the Environmet
In 2007, Noritz obtained intermational integrated ISO14001 certification, mainly spearheaded by offices around the world.
Although Noritz products are not subject to the RoHS directive, we established the "Noritz Group Environmental Pollutant Control Index" to restrict the use of hazardous substances in all products from the Noritz Group. Based on this index, we decided to either totally prohibit use of or reduce to below the permissible level of concentration 16 substances in new Noritz brand products as of July 2006.
Noritz has established its own criteria for environment-conscious products based on the theme "Passing on a Clean and Beautiful Earth to Future Generations" and has independently designates the products that meet these criteria as eco-friendly products. The criteria are determind based on the level of contribution of each factor to environmental preservation. In product catalogs on our website, the Noritz Eco-friendly Product Symbol indicates approved products and detailed descriptions of their eco-friendly characteristics are provided. Due to our successful expansion in eco-friendly product lineups and sales in 2005 , eco-friendly products currently account for 88.1% of total sales. We will continue our efforts to expand eco-friendly product sales to over 90% in 2006.
